US Visit Date is overlapping with visa interview date

I need to attend conference in january but the intervoew date I got is only 1 day before the conference date. So I am in confusion whether to go for visa interview itself as I am not able to completely justify visit purpose.

Your purpose of visit won't stand valid by then. Request for an early appointment or drop the idea of applying for a visa.
