Is a B1 Visa appropriate for a self-employed Canadian traveling to the US for meeting

I have a client in the US and for the first time, I need to travel there to meet with them and discuss upcoming projects.

I am self-employed in Canada (sole proprietor) and have been for 15 years.

The B1 documents seem to make some rules around not applying self-employment income, but I can't quite understand it.
