B1 Visa -- Administrative Processing status

Hello All,
My name is Sameer, working as a s/w test engg for a company in Bangalore. Recently, I had attended (8-Dec-2006) for B1 visa at U.S Consulate in Chennai. They had given a pink slip with a reference number and asked me to check the status of application on the website and not to contact the consulate until the status is changed. The approaximate time for administrative proccessing is 3-4 weeks. It has been almost 6 weeks and still the application status is "Administrative Processing".

Has anyone have an idea, how much time it would generally take. Does it mean the application is rejected, if the status does not change for more than 1 month.
Is it possible for me to apply for the Visa interview again.

Please help me in this regard. Appreaciate your co-operation.

Administrative processing under 221(g)

Hi All,

I gave my visa interview at new delhi US Embassy on 12th March 2007. Visa officer told me that you perfectly qualify for getting US Visa and you will get multiple entry visa for 10 years but your application requires some additional administrative processing. He told me that it would take around 5 days and he will contact me once this is done.

I have 2 questions:
1. my name in passport is only kamal. there is no last name. So can this be the reason for administrative processing? If not, then what else can be the reason?
2. What is the usual time frame which in which they call back? do they usually follow their timelines?

I need to go to US for business purpose on 17th March. I am very worried as it might get delayed.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out.
