Applying for B1 when H1 is already there?

Hi,

At present, in India, Iam working for employer X.
I have my H1 processed in Nov'06 by a US employer, say Y.
My current employer X wants me to travel to US on a B1 as he is not aware that I have a H1.

I would like to know if I can apply for B1 from employer X, when I already have a H1 from employer Y (I havent yet travelled on H1 even once)?

Is there a chance that my H1 itself will get cancelled because of applying for B1?
