  • B1 got rejected for no reason

    Hi,

I work for an IT company in Bombay and applied for the B1 Visa in Jan'07. I never feared the rejection, as mine was the simple case of visiting US for two months to attend a training on behalf of my company.

Yet, I was shocked when the officer said that she was not convinced as to why I was planning a trip to US. At least 25 other people who applied from my company got their visas without any problem.

I want to apply again but don't want another rejection. Please help.

    Rahul

How long have you been working in this company? Is it a BEP?

      hi

I had completed one year with the company when I went for the interview in Jan'07. I don't know what is a BEP.

My company wants me to apply again but I am reluctant as I fear the same result again. There have not been many changes in my circumstances in the past two months. Only things are that I have been promoted to the position of a Senior Business Analyst and my package has increased a bit.

What is the success ratio of visa allotment to the people who got it rejected in the first attempt. What if the visa will be rejected again. Will it hamper all my future chances of going out there. Should I get in touch with the Visa consultants?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

      Rahul

BEP (Business Express Processing or something like that) companies are generally the companies who have more than 100 visa processing cases per annum.
There's no official source to check the ratio but if you go through this site from start to finish (forum and experiences) which I did, I could make out that at least 60-70% of the B1 cases are rejected for the first time and most of them get visa in second or third time. Second time visa approval is common and in fact, I know some people whose visas were rejected for the first time and they got 10 Yrs ME visas in their second trial.
Each case is judged as an individual's present condition/status so there's hardly any effect of first rejection. If you check the experience then u can see that there was a recent case in which one guy expressed that he was rejected one year back and when he went again recently, VO asked him to forget the past and start afresh and after the interview, she approved the visa for that guy.

Your case seems strong and there's no reason what was missing which provoked VO to reject ur case. If you hold a good position, good salary, your company is worth few crores, you have valid reason for your visit and if you have ties here in India then there's no reason that your visa will be rejected.

          hi

Thanks a ton for your help. This gives me hope and courage to apply for the second time. I hope its not too early to apply within two months.

One ques- the Visa consulatncy fee that you are talking about- is it just for speaking/counselling.....or do they help in obtaining the visa.

            There's no harm in trying.
Those guys just suggest you how to prepare yourself, they will frame several questions based upon your documents/needs and will suggest appropriate answers for those. They don't guarantee the visa and nobody can.

@ Rahul a one time visa refusal dosne't mean that they have denied the visa to you for ever !!! Every time a visa gets denied, it shows that there was something which did't convince the VO. In my case i was denied F1 visa 2 yrs back. Last month when i applied for B1, i was very much bothered abt the rejection factor, but a visa denial shoud't really affect ur chanses for getting a visa when u apply next time !!
