  • I-94 Clarification

    Hi All

I just returned back from US after a 3 week business trip. On arrival i was given a months stay permit by the POE officer. The I-94 was clipped on the passport and while returning back to india when i checked in at the SFO Airpot the lady from British Airways, who issued me the boarding pass removed the I-94 and put it in a tray along with some other I-94 slips. Now my concern is will she hand it over to the Emmigration officer so that they can update it in the record or did i had to take it from her and hand it over to someone else in the emmigration office..I did't find any immigration officer anywhere who were accepting the I-94...Pls help me out here

Do not worry. Unlike other countries, there is no immigration inspection counter at US departure. So you hand over your I94 to the airlines staff
who hand it over to the USCIS. This has been the standard procedure for decades so worry not.

PS At some airports in US , US VISIT is in place, a machine records your departure.

Thanks Peace, i was a bit concerned abt it coz every time i departed from Australia, they would always place the departed seal on my passport, which never happened here in the US, so was a bit curious !!!
