Awaiting B1 extension

Hi, I am doc, came for my USMLE exams and residency application. i got an I94 stay visa till august1 and i have an entry visa of 2 yrs with multiple entry. I filed for an extension on june 25th, received a note on july2nd. the case is still pending and the vermont center is reviewing applications of may 7th right now. I had my exams while I was waiting for an extension. Now that I have couple of interviews lined up for my residency from november till early feb, i am in dilemma of what I should do.

- will it be ok for me to go back to my home country and return before my interviews start? do i need to cancel my current application for extension?

- will i be provided a new I94 when i reenter US?

- should i stay and wait till I hear from them? the main problem is that it will be around nov that my application would be reviewed and if they deny the extension, i will have to leave at a time when I will have many interviews to attend.

Please advise on what I should I do to prevent any further troubles.

in your status the best action is to preserve a copy of extension receipts and leave and com back later for interviews. at the time of entry if asked present the copy of extension receipt notice and interview letters.

but the problem is that I need to return by nov 1 so that I can attend interviews in that month. if I get denied of the extension at november, i will have to again return back home. so that Is why i was thinking of cancelling the extension. this will, i think preserve my 2 yr entry visa too.
