I am a third year undergrad engineering student. I have been invited by a prof for research collaboration with his group during the summers for 2 months. He asked me to obtain B1 visa. Is this visa okay for this sort of collaborative trip ? Will I be allowed this visa?

thnx a lot @amlan !!!!!
Thnx @amlan !!!! I need to go for this trip for two months. Is that allowable ? And, since my father would be sponsoring my trip, should I take his income tax return forms ? Will that suffice? And, I think proof of my undergraduate course in my college IIT Kgp and letter from the institute should serve the purpose of my intention of coming back to India after 2 months.
But, the major queries are:
1)Isn't two months for training purpose a long enough period not to be granted VISA?
2)What does the clause of short term training actually imply? I think I am applying under that provision. Or, is it better to apply only for a month and then extend it ? Is extension possible ? I need your help as my fellow seniors previous years were not granted B1 but referred to J1 having similar cases. However, the US university for my case won't be able to issue documents for J1 and hence, B1 is the only option for me.
3)And, does one need to have a compulsory health insurance before applying for the B1?
Thanks in anticipation. I need assistance.

I dnt think so .......... two months can be okk to ask for .
2)What does the clause of short term training actually imply? I think I am applying under that provision. Or, is it better to apply only for a month and then extend it ? Is extension possible ? 2 months is quite short to ask for .....u can apply for 1 month and extend later .its upto u ......... but u can ask for 2 months , if you can show proper reasoning for it !!
3)And, does one need to have a compulsory health insurance before applying for the B1?
No .theres no such complusory thing ...... unless you have a cronic disease or you are asking for 5-6 months.BUt then also as far as i know there is no such complusory thing.
Thanks in anticipation. I need assistance.
