  • Passport and Visa names interchanged

    Hi,

While filling out the forms for B1/B2 application, I entered the names interchanged.

    Names as in Passport

    Surname: Null
    Given name: YYYY YYYY

But in Visa application form, I filled it as

    Surname: YYYY YYYY
    First name: FNU

Now I got the visa stamped for 10 year multiple entry. Will this be a problem at POE.

I have to travel in a week.
What need to be done ??

If this needs to be corrected, what are the steps to follow to get this corrected.
What all documents do I need to carry and whom should I approach.

    Thanks

It is common and VFS asks you to fill the form this way. Not a problem.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

          That is how it is

Don't worry. The Consular Website asks you to fill it like that.
          Happened to me too.

Let's say my name is Sharukh Khan, where my Surname or also known as Family Name is Khan and my First name is Sharukh. But say I screwed up while applying for Passport.

          So now the Passport says:

          Surname : ( BLANK )
          Given Name: Sharukh Khan

When i apply for a Visa I would be asked for my Given Name and Surnames.

Here i would be typing as follows

          SURNAME: SHARUKH KHAN
GIVEN NAME: FNU ( FIRST NAME UNAVAILABLE)

Don't worry this is the format you have to follow.

You are welcome to PM me for more questions. Thanks
