I do not work under any company and I am an independent, self-employed consultant.

I am going to the USA for a period of 1 month and will be there in a US firm offering software consultation services. The payment for the services will be paid to my account in my home country after my return from the USA. All my travelling, lodging expenses will be taken care of by the US firm.

Can I take a B1 visa for these purposes? The reason I ask is - B1 visa requirements states "should not work under a US employer or supervisor and payment for the services should not be paid by any US source'.

Since I work independently and don't have an employer the money is paid directly to me and by the US firm.

    Please advise.

Thank You all for your valuable time and help.

That is not allowed on B1 visa. You can't be paid anywhere for performing any work in the US. In fact, you can't perform any paid work in the US.
