Thanks 'immihelp' for very helpful advice. Of all the forums I have seen, this is the best that comes to advice and info.
I am an independent software contractor providing software services to a US firm. If I have a B1 VISA, visited the US firm for 1-2 days, attend meetings and return back. Since I am an independent contractor for the US firm, at the end of the year if I receive 1099 form from the US firm and the SSN number is quoted on it, do I have to take any measures to tell the IRS that I do not owe any taxes as I am a non-immigrant.
Thanks for your help.
