Visa to write pilot exams for Canadian citizen

Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen of Indian origin. I am looking at getting a US pilot's license based on my Canadian license and have to write an exam to do the same. I intend to drive down and get it done in the coming weeks. As the holder of a Canadian passport, will I need to apply for a B1 visa to do this or can I just drive up to the border and cross as a visitor?
