Having I 94 for 6months but passport will be expired in 5 months

Hello all,

I came to USA from India, one week back on B1/B2(Business VISA). I got I 94 for 6 months(Till 2nd March) and i am having VISA for another 4 years. But my passport is going to expire on 31st of Jan.

As per my knowledge i cann't renew my passport in US, because i am on B1/B2 (Business VISA).
So, can i stay here upto 2nd March or do i need to leave before 31st Jan?

Is there any chance to renew my passport in US??

You need a valid passport to travel. That should determine when you leave.

That means i should leave US before 31st of Jan.(Before expiring of my passport) Right??

You may want to leave much earlier than that so that you are in your final destination country before the passport expiration date. Say you leave on the 31st and it is already 1st in Europe, once you land, you will not be allowed to board the next flight or clear immigration in India with an expired passport. What if the flight gets cancelled?

It is a huge risk. You can renew your passport upto 1 year before the expiration.

Try to contact the consulate and see if they can renew the passport. In many cases, IO at POE issue I-94 till DOE of passport for this reason.
