Traveling on B1 visa while holding H1B

Here is my situation,

I have valid stamped B1 visa on my passport till 2014
I was in US till Mar 2011 on H1B and returned back to India and working with another small company
I need to go to US for 1 week for business.
My passport has both H1B and B1 visa stamped

My question,

Can I travel on B1? Is there any way I can fine out whether my B1 visa is still valid. (I heard even if it is on your passport, when my H1B was approved, my B1 might have cancelled)

And follow up question will be, if I travel on B1, will my H1B petition cancelled? Can I transfer to my new employer if things work as expected

B1 and H1 are two independent visas. One doesn't automatically get cancelled when you another.
