  • B1 Visa Extension query

Hello, I am visiting US for 3rd time. I need to apply for extension of stay as I am only granted for 2 months of stay during my present visit. I have interviews coming and I want to stay 1 more month. During this 3rd visit I was questioned by 3 officers at different places on the port of entry. They inquired a lot and I mean it, it was really serious. Finally I was granted 2 months of stay. I requested 4 months of stay. Now I want to apply for extension.
But here is the problem. The officer has written NO EOS/ NO COS/ NO AOS on the back of my I-94. I guess it means no extension, no change or no adjustment of status.
    Now my questions are:
    1.should I apply for extension?
    2. If I apply and application gets rejected/denied before my original expiration date of I-94, Do I need to leave immediately after receiving the letter?
    3. If my application gets approved or rejected, would it make any problem for my future visit or future application for different visa category?

Please somebody share your knowledge, experience, and guide me. I have valid reason for applying for extension. I can provide interview letter.

    Exactly that

    Now my questions are:
    1.should I apply for extension?
Honestly - do you really have to ask that question? Even after how you were grilled by the CBP officers when you arrived, and the annotations on your I94 ? I would consider myself *extremely lucky* if I was you and I was allowed to enter the country at all. As you can see, the CBP officers suspected something on your reasons to visit - those annotations are a "heads-up" for anyone processing a case for what you're trying to do - an extension of status.

    2. If I apply and application gets rejected/denied before my original expiration date of I-94, Do I need to leave immediately after receiving the letter?
That's going to depend on the facts of your specific case. In any case, be aware your visa may be cancelled next time you try to visit the US.

    3. If my application gets approved or rejected, would it make any problem for my future visit or future application for different visa category?
See above. And with those annotations on your I94, I would rate your chances of getting an extension from null to non-existent.

I think you're confused on the purpose of the B1/B2 visa. While indeed a B2 visa is the appropriate visa for you to come to the US for a job interview, *it is not the goal of the visa for you to come to the US and start job hunting*
