221g given for B1 with 7 Yrs experience

I attended the VISA interview at Hyderabad for B1 to attend a mandatory technical training in US. The interviewer just asked me 3 - 4 questions and handed me a 221g white slip and said I will recieve an email for any more documents supporting my case. I submitted the documents the same day (Resume and a questionnaire) but still waiting for an update from the consulate. My passport was retained during the interview.
I have no idea why the same documents were requested from me which I already showed during the interview itself.

I hold a bachelor's degree and 7 yrs of extensive mission critical IT environment experience and throughout my career I worked with very big IT MNC's.

Since my company is sponsoring the trip, then what is the need of giving a 221g to the associate who is travelling to US on a business trip with good experience.

Am tracking my case online but it still shows "under processing".

Any idea when will I recieve my passport ?
