Can I apply for B1/B2 with H1B already stamped on my Passport

Hi,

I got my H1b stamped on my passport last december from new company.
But I didn't join that company yet.
Now my current company wants to send me to US with B1/B2 for one month and wants me to apply & attend for the b1/B2 visa interview.

Please answer the following questions regarding this.

1) If I go for B1/B2 visa interview, will they can cancel my existing H1B?

2) In case if they don't cancel and approve my B1/B2, can I go to US for short term and come back to India? After that, do I need to go for H1B stamping again?

Queries on H1/H4/B1

Currently I have H4 and B1, my company have applied for my H1 in Nov 2012.
Queries:
1. Can I travel on B1 when my H1 is under process?
2.Is there any delay for H1 status update from Embassy? Heard that its taking too long time for the flings done after Oct 2011.
3. Suppose if I travel on H4 and stay in US , can I convert to H1 in US without coming back to India?
4. If there is change in LCA, what is the process and time required to get the LCA transfer?
