  • N400 and Vote Registration, Please advice

I am preparing the Form N400 for my wife, but found out about the vote registration. She started school before election this year, and one day they had vote registration day at her school and she was given a form to fill out. She was not aware of any laws and she filled out the form and she DID NOT check to yes on the questions for US citizen and she also wrote on the form that she has a green card and turned it in. That was done few months ago, she received the vote registration card but she did not vote. I do not understand if she did not check the US question and wrote that she is green card holder how and why the vote was registered?
The last name she used on vote registration is my last name (married) but her green card is under her last name. I am going to get her unregistered and get the cancellation form no vote confirmation. Is there a way to get a copy of the registration form she filled out?
What else should I do, this was clearly done out of her innocence and not knowing better. There were no intention to vote or claim that she was USC since she wrote on the from that she was green card holder. I have not sent the N400 yet.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Gather as many documentation as possible regarding this and take it with you to the interview. Also, on the N-400 form, you need to indicate that a registration to vote was made (even if it was not intentionally). On your interview notice, USCIS will most likely ask for supporting documentation. With all the supporting documentation and your explanation you should be fine.
