  • Starting the citizenship process.. What about the kids?

I have started filling the Form-N400 for me an my wife to start the process. We have a 12 year old son who born when i was india and living with us having a indian passport and green card. Should i fill N600 for him and send it along with our N400?

N600 after you become a citizen. He will automatically become one when you take the oath. The N600 is advisable, but not necessary. Just a US passport will also be proof of citizenship, though the N600, even though it costs a lot, will never expire, and will update CIS's records as well.

Thanks! So are these the steps.

      1. Apply for my citizenship using N400
      2. Once mine got approved, apply for my son using N600.

Or Can i send both N400 and N600 at the same time.

You cannot send them both at the same time.

Your son becomes a US citizen automatically the moment you become one (when you take the oath with all those people). You and he need to do nothing more for him to become a citizen. The N600 is only for proof of his automatic citizenship. So, you can send it in once he becomes a citizen along with you.
