I live in Tennessee because of the military (husband and family) and I am suppose to start grad school in June, but the school says I can't enroll in classes until they have my citizenship certificate or a renewed green card. My green card is expired, but that hasn't been a problem with INS for my naturalization. Anyhow, the immigration office here has told me that they can just stamp my passport and that the school should allow me to register for classes with that while my citizenship paperwork goes through, but the school says that is not enough. I'm confused. Has anyone had this problem before?

School is misinformed. That should be enough. You should either confront with them or hire an immigration attorney to explain it to them.Immihelp Support
