Can British citizen kid (3yrs old) study in India in school ?

Child (3yrs old) is UK citizen and Parents are both India citizen with Permanent residence status in UK. Now both wants to separate and filed for divorse. child is with Mother in India. Can the child get a Indian citizenship? Please advice.
