  • Oath and Naturalization Certificate After Interview

    Hi
My husband and I applied for Citizenship nearly at the same time. We had interviews at Balitimore District office on 23 and 24th Aug respectively. My husband got approved on the same day of interview, and took oath and received Naturilization certificate.
However, my case was not finally approved on the same day. The immigration officer said that the final approval is not done. He said you had met all eigibility to become citizen, and if final approval is done, you will get letter for the oath ceremony later.
I had one mistake in filling up the form. Actually I worked for one Company as a part time programmer way back 99-2000, but they are now out of business. Also, instead of mentioning as part time programmer, I mistakenly wrote software engineer. The officer was questioning about that engineer and programmer are different. I admitted that I was programmer. I am wondering whether he is not going to aprrove the case at all due to this.
I know a few cases where there is no decision made even 1-2 years after the date of interview.
Any idea or prediction about what is happening with my case will be appreciated. I am very much worried and nervous.
Can I withdraw my current application or case and reapply with a new payment?

    Thanks

My wife took her test on the 17th. of August. She was told she passed the test, and we were given a paper that said we will be contacted about the date and time of the oath. 4 days later we got a letter requesting a copy of my wife's GC. We are now waiting for the oath letter....

As for your case, I think you are making too much out of your job description issue. I don't think you should worry. If you did not pass, the officer would have told you so. It is my understanding that the INS does not give oath on a daily basis. Your husband just got lucky, that's all.

    Good luck.

In some places, USCIS gives oath on daily basis. e.g., in Fairfax, VA, it is twice a day.
