    Hi
I am a US citizen married to non us citizen and have not lived in USA for more then 2 years, i wish to apply for US Citizenship for my daughter who is one year old and born abroad, The information I have received is that I need to file I-130 and wait for its approval, Once its approved, I need to travel to USA to get green card?

Could someone please guide me step by step procedure and most Important how soon can i get the passport for the child after the 1-130 is approved and what will be its procedure

    Thankyou for your help

You don't have 5 years of proven presence in the US before your daughter was born (2 years after your 14th birthday)?

      Hi,

I have the same situation as yours ( I got his US passport and birth certificate w/o I-130) and here is my answer for you:

A US citizen's child is by birth a US citizen too. You don't need to file I-130 as your child is less than 18 years old. What you need to do is:

      1. Get her birth certificate obtained from the country where she was borne.
      2. A copy of your US passport.
      3. Fill up the application form called Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) known as DS-29.
      4. Original copy of Marriage Certificate.
      5. Evidence that you have resided/lived in US a period not less than 5 years.
      6. Fee

You can apply for her passport simultaneously as well.

      Good luck.
