Are you going to apply for citizenship now? Did you just lose the GC? If you have a copy, you can report it lost and try to apply for naturalization. They could let you slide and ignore the fact that you didn't apply for a replacement, but they could also ask you to pay for a renewal before continuing with the application. If you want, give it a shot without applying for a new one.

Though it is "remotely possible" that the absence of a copy of the Green Card might get one through the Naturalization application process, don't count on it. The Naturalization instructions specifically stipulate that if there is no copy of the Green Card, a receipt for applying for a duplicate must be included with the application package.
A photocopy of the lost Green Card will probably suffice. I don't believe that relinquishment of the plastic Green Card is required at the interview.

If you are going to apply for Naturalization, you will require a copy of green card which has to be attached along with your U.S.Citizenship application, But then befor you apply for a U.S.Citizenship you will require a duplicate Green Card. You can get your Form I-90, Application for Green Card Renewal. This Form I-90 is used, if your green card is damaged/lost/stolen/ expired, also, you can find more information on USCIS website. If your are not sure, you can call to USCIS Local office or Customer Service number.

Joelelwyn,
If one's Green Card has been lost, a replacement card doesn't have to be included with the N-400 application. But the receipt for the I-90 submittal to replace the Green Card must be included with the N-400 submittal. See form M-477, Document Checklist.

You wanna apply the New Green card

The green card you lost means then you want to apply for New Green Card and not for Citizenship.
Although you have certain criteria to get the U.S. Citizenship.
So, as of my advice you apply for New green card with filing I-90 petition.
Thanks
