Need help with US passport for my Daughter

Hi,

Today I went to apply for US passport for my daughter in Local post office. I am here in US on H1 Visa & my wife is on H4 Visa. I have got the Birther certificate & SSN for my daughter..

The person there asked us to provide the photo id issued by state. They refused to accept our Indian Passport. I have the driving license, so that is not a problem for me. But, My wife is on H4 and not have the SSN, so she can not get the State id issued by DMV. How can I get the Photo id for her ? What other identification document we can use..

I am in Illinois.. Is any one faced this issue ? What is the identification we can use..

I was thinking getting the US passport would be easy, but it doesn't look like..

Need help with US passport for my Daughter

If they won't accept it, get a notary to notarized her passport and consent form and you alone apply for the passport. Not sure if it will work but give it a try

Just to add.. On passport website, it is mentioned that is we present Out-of-state id then a second id required.. The Indian Passport can go as out-of-state primary id.. The second id can be credit card..

Please let me know if any one has used credit card as second id .. Or what other second id we can use..

You went to a postal employee who doesn't know the rules. Try another post office.

Just to let everyone know. There is no need for any secondary id.. I went to municipality office & applied for passport. They asked only for the Indian passport.

I got the my daughter's passport without any issue..
