  • Citizenship after marriage based greencard

    hello,

I need help on how long I have to wait in US before applying citizenship. My scenario is:

    1. I came to US in 2009 December with K-3 visa sponsored my ex-husband who is american citizen.
    2. He sponsored family based green card for me and I got my conditional GC in May 2010. After my conditional GC, I became permanent resident from May 2012 for 10 yrs.
    3. Now, I got divorced in Dec 2013 and I'm still on the family based green card sponsored by my ex-husband.
    4. As I am divorced now, I will be eligible for applying citizenship by Feb 2015 which is 90 days before my completion of 5 years in May 2015.

I am planning to go back to India later this year by sep or october, and return in feb 2015 and apply for citizen? or do I have to be here to maintain my continuous residence. I also found somewhere that i should be in the state im living for 90 days before applying.

Can someone help me considering my situation.

Travel and then in Feb 2015 you can apply.
Travel plans does not affect the 90 day requirements only if you change address.
