  • Citizenship versus Green card renewal...??

My green card exipires on Nov 30th. Therefore I applied to renew it and recieved a biometrics notice for Nov 12th.

However I also applied for citizenship and have an interview date of Dec 12th.
The problem is if I appear for the Green card biometrics they will take my green card and stamp my passport. But I need to show my green card for the citizenship interview.

Therefore I have the following options:

    1) surrender my green card at the biometrics and hope I get the new green card before Dec 12th. If not I will have to show them the passport stamp at the citizenship interview (is this acceptable?)

    2) Postpone the green card biometrics. In this case I will turn up for the citizenship interview with an expired green card. Is it ok if I tell them I have started the renewal process?

Anyway, your green card is going to expire before you go for citizenship interview.

Therefore, go for greencard fingerprinting and get passport stamped.

When you are asked for greencard at citizenship interview, just tell them that you just have stamp in the passport currently as your greencard recently expired. However, if you get your greencard before citizenship interview, you can present that to them.
