  • Naturalization delay Houston, TX

Is there anyone with same experience. I applied for my parents in May 2014. Fingerprints were taken June 2014. My dad had to take his fingerprints again in July 2014. Since then I have been waiting for their interview appointment but the status for my Mom still says "In line for interview scheduling" and for my Dad - "we sent you letter for figerprint appointment". Its been five months since the application and still no news.
Am I being impatient or there may be an issue with application?

    Can someone guide me?

    Ray?......

    Thanks for the help.

You're being impatient. Wait time for an interview can be 5-10 months, depending on workload in local offices.

I am more confused now with this new look site and status. I filed for my parents on same day in same envelope. You can see their receipt numebrs are also in sequence.
My mom's status now says -

"On July 1, 2014, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*005058828. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by September 29, 2014, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

      My dad's status says -
"On November 8, 2014, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*005058829. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by February 6, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

One status says send an e-request to get the copy of the interview notice if you don't get it by September 29, 2014. The other says the same with 6 February, 2015.

Ray, can you advice what to do here?

      Thanks for the help.

They were processed separately because their applications may have been handled by different interviewers or the review of their personal data might have been more complicated for one than the other.

Start with an INFOPASS interview request so that a live USCIS person can try to tell what is going on with their applications. Go to: https://infopass.uscis.gov/

I tried the INFOPASS but if you have case that has already been filed, they offer 4 kinds of appointments, (order from immigration court, case processing appointment, EAD inquiry appointment and case services follow-up
appointment). None of them says case processing outside normal time frame or something. Can you tell me which one to select?

          Thanks,

Try to override the INFOPASS selection so that you manage to get an appointment with a more generic request reason.

Finally, I got the interview notice set for February 1st week for both my Mom and Dad. I got one more question though. Both of them were dependent for all these years and never worked. In the notice they have also attached the document checklist which demands Greencard, State Issued ID, Latest Photos and Tax Transcripts for last 5 years. I have my tax transcripts but will that work? It also says bring documents showing that you didn't abandon the residency while you made trip of 6 months or longer. Since they made one trip of 11 months in 2008, what documents do I need to prove they were still dependent and they still had residence maintained here. I was here all that time here and supporting them all they way.

Ray, Please help me put together these documents.

              Thanks,
              Chirag

Please clarify what we are talking about. Is this a Naturalization interview for your mom or dad (or both)? If so, is the eligibility based on their having Green Cards for 5 years or more?

If they did not work and did not file personal income tax returns, your tax returns or transcripts are not relevant.

What is relevant and will come up is proof of continued residency in the U.S.: driver's licenses, bills, mail, account activity, names on leases or rental agreements.

                  Sorry Ray,
I didn't put enough info at first. Yes, it is N-400 Interview for both and they have been in US since 2007. They took 11 months trip to India in 2008 and its been 5 years since they came back with two more trips to India both for 5 months each. So, they were eligible for N-400 and so I applied. They never worked and were dependent on me since 2007. I have them on my Tax returns as dependent. They don't have bills, mails, account acitivites or lease documents. The only things they will have is my Tax Transcripts.

                  I hope this explains.

Thanks Ray in advance for guidance.

                  Will these be enough?

Make sure they take their passport, to show all entry/exit stamps, and other receipt proof of continuous residency in the U.S.

I can understand Possports for exit/entry stamps but when you say other receipt of continuous residency..can you explain in detail about that? They have their state issued IDs and tax transcripts (mine). Anything else that I need to worry. They don't have utility bills or any other mails.

                      Appreciate your help.

"Proof of continuous residency," can be anything with dates during period in the U.S.
