But my question is if someone wanted to come from a country and marry someone the U.S. Citizen on the side what is the requirement and how long do you have to know that person in the US ?

Also is it true the person in the United States has to have $20,000 - $39,000 to show the can support the person from another country?

Anyone arriving to the U.S. can marry her with no problems. There is no "length of relationship" requirement.

If applying for spousal visa or Green Card, the petitioner must meet the annualized income requirements, of about $19,000 for first two members of household.

1. There is no minimum time required to know a person in order to marry or petition that person.

2. A professional gambler needs credible proof of steady income to meet the sponsorship requirements.

3. Roommates who are not claimed on the sponsor's income tax return are not normally included in the household number for sponsorship purposes.
