parents eligibility for citizenship

Parents got GC in 2009.So Nov 2014 it is going to be 5 years for them.But they could not stay here continuously.They took re-entry permit once.All together US staying may be 19 months.So if they want to apply for citizenship now what they need to do?Do they have to wait another 5 years to apply??

You can count 4 years from the day they came back from that trip with re-entry permit. That's when they will be able to apply for citizenship. Simple.
