US Citizenship-Work related travel more than 6 months

Hello-

I got my permanent residence in July 2001 and was waiting to file for US Citizenship in mid 2006. My US employer has offered me a 2-year contract position in India (at their Subsidiary company - in Indian payroll) which would start in Jan 2006. After the 2 year contract they would relocate me back to US. I would like to still pursue my Citizenship while I am in India. What forms/procedures should I follow so that my permanent residence/Citizenship process is not affected, if I accept this offer ?

I read about preserving Permenant residence Form N-470 for Naturilization purposes and it states "For the purpose of engaging in the development of foreign trade and commerce of United States on behalf of an American firm or corporation or a subsidiary thereof".

Will filing this form help in NOT restarting my citizenship clock ?

That is true but it is not for all companies. Only certain types of companies. You need to find if your company qualifies for that.
