  • naturalization interview passport checked?

hi,at the interview why do the officer check your passport? to see if you have become a resident of another country? to see stamps?

Sometimes, they are not even checked. Every official does things differently. For what specific reasons they looked in yours, no one may never know, but we can speculate, (even though it's expected and naturally), that he wants to see if the facts in the passport, matches what's on your application.

If you travel often they will more than likely request copies of your passport. My officer had a print out of all my entries to the US! I travel a lot (for short trips) so it was a lot of paperwork. She had to cross-reference my passport to the entries and even made copies of my trips from the time I applied (when I had sent a copy of my passports to that date) to the date of the interview. I passed the tests but was not given a decision after the interview. A week later my status is updated to show an oath ceremony being scheduled, so I guess they have determined that I was here for the necessary US presence requirement.
Different officers might not do this, but be prepared. If you became a resident of another country and this shows in your passport they might have questions about that, but a lawyer will be better suited to answer that.
