  • Naturalization to become a US

If spouse/child decide to leave the country after 2 years as permanent resident but keep visiting the US every year to retain green card , can the child naturalize when one parent naturalizes or does the child have to satisfy residency requirement like the parent .

If the has Permanent Resident status and is under 18 when applying, and a parent has Naturalized, the child can apply for his Citizenship certificate using form N-600.

For parent and child to live in their own country and visit the USA once in a while, is a violation of the Laws that governs the Permanent Resident Status and can be at risk of losing their Status. (Green Card)
If that parent were to apply, for naturalization, they would be denied, due to the lack of continuous residency, in the USA. For ones naturalization, either the three years, if married to a USA Citizen or under the five years rule should be applied.

I, don't think the child is govern by that rule, as you asked. Therefore, if one parent, already has their naturalization certificate or is a natural born USA citizen, such a parent can apply for the child, using, Form N-600, as Ray, advised above.
