  • Need to Reschedule Oath Ceremony - who do I write to?

I have made my way through the lengthy N-400 process and and now on the final leg - the naturalization ceremony

Unfortunately I just received my loath ceremony appointment letter in the mail, and of all the weeks in the year the date I have been given is right in the middle of a family cruise, booked a year ago, and which I cannot cancel

I therefore need to send a letter asking to reschedule. Their instructions on how to do this in their letter however is not clear as to whether I need to send the reschedule request letter to the processing center listed as the return address on the envelope (which is in a State adjoining mine) ; or directly to the venue at which the ceremony was scheduled to be held (which is also a district USCIS office for my state). It just says 'send us a letter'.

I called the customer service line today, and they told me I should send the letter directly to the venue. On this site, however, I have read that these letters should go to the processing center.

If I send it to both, there may be a confusion and delay to my case, which I do not want.

Can anyone recommend which would be the best plan of action here please? I need to send the letter ASAP so that they know I cannot make the ceremony date in 3 weeks time.

Thanks in advance for any insight

You need to write the Letter to the USCIS office belonged to your area with an explanation on rescheduling Oath ceremony. Make a copy of your oath letter and send the original letter back with letter of explanation. Once they receive your letter, they will send you oath ceremony cancellation letter and will tell you to wait for another appointment letter. Tell me where do you live and where the letter came from, I can direct you on where to write it.
