  • Green card expires in 6 months, still waiting for interview date. Renew Green Card?

I am from Los Angeles. My husband and I both applied for naturalization at the end of June this year. I had my interview in Orange County in September and also already received my citizenship. My husband had his fingerprint appointment in early July. However, until then, we have not received the interview date. His green card expires in May 2016 and he is planning to be out of the country on the same month. Does he need to renew his green card?
According to the uscis website, he does not need to apply to renew his green card if he applied for naturalization 6 months before of its expiration date.
Since we don't know how long the wait is for the interview date, should we renew the green card? Any suggestions?

No you don't have to renew the Greencard, if your husband doesn't hear from USCIS 3 months prior to GC expiration, contact the local congressman and senator for expedited proceeding and it will take care of it.

        Hello Daisy,
To the best of my knowledge I think,if you haven't heard from USCIS 60days after you received the notice you should call the 1800 number and talk to customer service and they will pass you over to supervisor and if supervisor can't help he will escalate it and u will get response in another 30days or before. It will be expedited at that time.Am no expert.Just a point.Have a blessed day.
