I applied i130 for my spouse who is in Austria, priority date was June 9th, I still did not get approved and it's been over 5 months already, I am a U.S. Citizen... Any idea, why it take so long ? Please help share your experience would be really appreciated

RayB, how long does it take for I-130 to be approved for spouse that is already in the United States?

For the petition alone, about 4-6 months. But you can submit the receipt notice for the petition, before approval, with your I-485 Adjustment paperwork.

Thanks for responding to all who did, what should I do for a time being? It says average time is 5 months so I'm worried, should I call congress people to help check my case or need to hire lawyer ? Please any suggest would be really appreciated

Hi RayB, I noticed you are very knowledgeable about this process. My question is: who will receive the NVC welcoming letter? the petitioner inside the US or beneficiary outside the US (or BOTH).

The "Welcome Letter" from the NVC usually goes to the beneficiary by postal mail.

Can documents be email or uploaded electronically during NVC processing?

For applicants from most countries, the documents are postal-mailed to the NVC. A half dozen or so countires are allowing emailing of civil documents to the NVC.

getting respond from uscis after more than 6 months with RFE " request further evidence" I have sent every single evidence like emails, mails, line online chat, Frds evidence letter, marriage photos, and cards, what would be the other things that needed or I have left to shown them? Please help to prepare ahead of time!

I am a permanent resident since 5 years. . I a have filed for my citizenship N400 for myself in Dec 2016 and filed for my husband I130 in October 2016. My husband is a Canadian Citizen . Any idea how long does it take to sponsor spouse as an LPR and does it make a difference that spouse is a Canadian?
