Hello everyone
Please i need help with few questions
Today I went to my N-400 interview
Everything went very good
The officer was so nice and we talked a lot and joked
The interview lasted about 30 minutes
Nothing serious but talking
The thing that drove me off is that during the interview there was another officer and he was ovserving,
Iasked him he said he is transfering from another office
Anyway
I requested a name change on my application
But i changed my mind and asked the officer to give me another name
He re printed 2 papers and he said its okay and he was working on the computer and said lets make sure no one is looking for you under this name, and no one is looking for you under that name ... He was like telling me that you are not wanted or your name has no issues
He congratualted me and gave me the approval paper and tild me your oath is on monday the 7th
Wait outside we will print the oath letter
20 minutes later
The observer officer came out to me and appologized and said that they cant give me the oath paper today as my name didnt clear the checks yet give it 1 or 2 weeks u will get it by mail
I told him that "i thought name checks are done before interview" he said yeah maybe name change they need to check the new name
I asked a lawyer, he said name changes doesnt require name checks
So i am really confused now
Did i pass name checks originally?
Is a name change causes new checks?
Why would they change their mind ?
