I am a green card holder. I had applied for permanent residence for my then-wife (who is a citizen of and resides in my country of nationality), and she had got her I-551 visa stamped on her passport in our country of nationality, but before she entered the US on that immigrant visa, we got divorced, and she consequently got her I-551 canceled by the US embassy. My question is: on N400 part 9 question #9C ("Your prior spouse's immigration status when your marriage ended"), should I just tick "other" and write "non-resident alien" in explanation?

You may check with USCIS Application filling instructions before filling the Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. If anything goes wrong your application may get rejected. But then, If you tick "non-resident alien" You will require to give valid explanation.
