Hi, I currently hold a valid Social Security Card, obtained via the Jay Treaty (American Indian Born in Canada). I obtained this document 25 years ago in order to work in the U.S., which I did, only to return to Canada one year afterwards.
I have recently visited a Social Security Office, and they confirmed that I am still allowed to live and work in the U.S. But I believe USCIS would say otherwise.
Is a Green Card a necessity for me to return to the U.S.?
My biggest issue is that my SS card was issued with a quantum blood document provided from a third party which is no longer recognized from USCIS.
If only with the current document I hold, I would not be constantly hassled by the CPB (Customs and Border Protection) whenever I would wish to cross the border.
Thank you for any response you can provide.
Sly
