Does my child get citizenship when i get?

Hello, I am going to apply for citizenship in December based on five years. and my wife and a 8 years old daughter have green cards for three years now. but they lived here about one year in 3 years. Now they came back in US again this month. So my question is this is there any physical residency requirement for a child? When I apply in December will my child get citizenship too?

If you get citizenship your minor children are automatically considered citizens and you can apply for US passports for them. On the safe side you can get a document from USCIS proving they are citizens. It is called 'certificate of citizenship' N600

There is no residency requirement for your child.

Your child will be a US citizen when you become a US citizen.

These are the 4 requirements for your child to get citizenship through you; Child Citizenship Act. 1) Be under 18, AND 2) be an LPR, AND 3) have a US citizen parent, AND 4) live with the US citizen parent.

File for the $140 US passport as proof of US citizenship. There is no need for the N-600 and cost $600; it's optional.

First get your citizenship but don't be thinking that getting a us passport for a child born abroad is easy by no means. Getting the N600 is more expensive but indeed is easier than the us passport. I went through it myself.

I just replied. I'm a us citizen born here in the us and I had to prove my "physical " existence of being a us citizen before the state Dept have my son his passport! Please remember I said physical existence starting from when I was 5 years old. Yes it's cheaper but by no means easier.
