  • Citizenship test

For the current (2016) citizenship test, the website says I will be asked up to 10 questions and I must get 6 correct. Will the officer ask the questions exactly as they are worded in the official study booklet or can the officer ask the question any way he or she wants? In other words, one question is, "Name one state that borders Canada." Can I just memorize "Michigan" as an option or can they ask the question differently, such as "Does Michigan border Canada?"

    Thank you!

Very rarely a civics question should be completely reworded like that, but in any case, it should help understanding the meaning of the Q & A, so you can answer the 6 questions any way it is asked.
For my parents, in their interview last month, only one question was very slightly reworded, all other questions were asked just the way they were listed on the sheet.

It went well. There were a few problems to clear up because we entered some information wrong on the application, but otherwise it went well. The questions at my wife's interview were asked exactly as they were in the book.

        Thanks for asking.
