  • Travel more than 6 months outside the US (5 years ago)

    Hi,

I am an LPR looking to apply for my citizenship. I received my GC through marriage to my USC husband in 2005. My husband was sent abroad in 2008 for work (and I accompanied him). We were abroad (with frequent trips back to the US) for 5 years. I applied and used re-entry permits during that time with no problem at all. We returned back to the US in 2012 and have been living in the US since March 2012.

The N400 document check list states:
If you have taken any trip outside the United States that lasted 6 months or more since becoming a Lawful Permanent Resident, send evidence that you (and your family) continued to live, work and/or keep ties to the United States, such as:
An IRS tax return “transcript” or an IRS-certified tax return listing tax information for the last 5 years (or for the last 3 years if you are applying on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen).
Rent or mortgage payments and pay stubs.

My question is do I need to send all this information in, even though it has been (will be by the time I apply) 5 years since I have returned back to the US? My last 5 years tax returns etc. are all from the time we have been living in the US.

I am a thoroughly confused. Thank you so much for your help!
