I am a legal permanent resident since 2014 and was convicted for DWI (first offence, class 2 misdemeanor) in 2009 while on an L1 visa. I will only be able to apply for citizenship in about 2 years, but I am seeking the opinion from people familiar with immigration law on what the chances are that the new president elect will change the laws related to citizenship. Currently a simple DWI is not considered a "crime of moral turpitude", but I am worried this may change with the new presidency as Mr. Trump has announced massive immigration reforms. I would like to better understand what laws define who is eligible for citizenship and how likely it is these laws would be changed. I realize it's not possible to say with certainty what will be changed during this presidency, but it would be great to hear your thoughts on this.
