  • My US Citizenship experience Pittsburgh-PA field office

I want to start saying that each case is different. In my opinion, the FBI clearance and how busy the field office is are the two more important factors. Having said this, don't pay attention to my or other timelines posted here because that will make you stress or frustrated and believe me it's not worthy... These are my timeline

    June-16-2016 N-400 mailed out
    June-17-2016 Per Lockbox, application received
    June-20-2016 Credit Card charged
June-25-2016 NOA received in the mail
There was a little typo mistake on the zip code on the application
August-05-2016 Received biometrics letter in the mail
    August-18-2016 Biometrics done
November-14-2016 Status changed to "interview scheduled"
November-16-2016 Status changed to "interview letter sent"
    December-22-2016 Interview done
    December-21-2016 Oath Ceremony Notice Mailed

The Immigration Officer was very nice. She was leaving for vacation that day and told me that as long as I pass the civic and English test that she will recommend my application to be approved. They have Oath Ceremonies in that office every other week but since I am changing my name, I have to be sworn by the Judge because they are the only one authorized by law to do name changes. She told it would be sometime in February or March for sure.

My application was delayed initially because of the typo mistake on the address, specifically on the zip code. So, make sure your address on the application is exactly the same as the one you reported to USCIS.

I know, I'm not the right person to say this but be patient. Try to forget that you submitted the application. Check the status on-line and sign-up to receive alerts by text/email. Calling the USCIS Customer Service is not helpful, they are not the officer reviewing your case so they only give you general/vague answers.
