Hi There,
My father has been a green card holder for 5 years now and I am planning to apply for his naturalization. He is 79 years old and has never worked in the United States and has been here for the last 5-6 years upon receiving his green card. He worked his entire life in India until his retirement about 10 years ago and has been paying his taxes even until now in India. As a result, he did not file for taxes here in the US while he was a permanent resident. What are the implications of applying for naturalization when he has not paid taxes in US but has been meticulously paying taxes in India? Is there anything he needs to do with regards to taxes prior to filing for naturalization? In the naturalization form there is a question which asks if he has been paying taxes as a permanent resident.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
