Hello,

I came across this forum and would hope to receive answers on some questions regarding a criminal record from the past. I am in the process of applying for Naturalization, and came to a point where I need some help properly answer Q-29 (Part 12) in N-400 from, which asks why I was arrested, cited, detained, or charged as well as the outcome or disposition of the arrest. So, back in 2010 I got caught stealing (shoplifting) from a retail store in NYC. Right after the security took my pictures and banned me from entering the store for the next five years, I was put in a county jail, where I had to stay till the trial date (next morning). The judge granted me an ACD for a period of one year, and ordered to perform community service for one day.


How can I properly describe the reason for my arrest and indicate the outcome of this arrest?

Just write ....Shoplifting. During the interview they will ask you to provide all the documentation that proves that the case was closed.
