  • 3 years vs 5 years, and out of US for more than 6 months

Hi, please enlighten me on my path to citizenship situation.

Got my Green Card through my parents in 1993. Stayed in the USA with no trips outside, until 1999. Since 1999, have been in and out of the country several times.

Married a US born citizen in 2012, still married with him however, he has been living outside the country since 1998.

Since USCIS focuses on the last 5 years only, I will list my trips for those only.

    12/13/2011 to 8/8/2012 -- 7 months, 27 days out of US
    1/19/2013 to 5/1/2013 -- 3 months, 13 days out
    7/26/2013 to 4/1/2014 -- 8 months, 14 days out
    5/30/2014 to 2/3/2015 - 8 months, 6 days out
    5/30/2015 to 12/19/2015 - 6 months, 20 days out.

My parents and my siblings are US citizens, husband is US citizenship, and our 2 kids are US born.

I want to get my citizenship already. So, we decided that I stay in the US to satisfy the physical presence requirement. The kids are with me, and my husband travels 2x/year to come see us. I have been in the US since December 2015, making it 14 months to this day.

We don't have a joint income tax. My last income tax was in 2013 but that was filed as single.
We have a joint bank account and joint credit cards since 2012.
Husband uses my parents' US address, as do I.

    Questions.
    1. How soon can i apply for citizenship?
    2. Which route should I go for? 5 years versus 3 years?

    Thanks everyone!
