  • Concerned Green Holder

I finally applied for N-400. Wished I applied in Dec! not Jan - didn't realize the fee went up by 40 dollars.

My PD is January 31, 2017
    Scheduled Biomimetics: Feb 7, 2017
    Biometrics done: Feb 23, 2017
In Line for Interview: Feb 27, 2017

I am very concerned because my green card is about to expired in June. To this day, I haven't gotten a notice about the interview date. I called the site and was told that I have to renew my green card but it costs 455 dollars. I am a little upset because I paid 750 for the applicatioin fee and now I have to pay another 455 for maybe one or two before the interview comes in.

Someone told me that if I don't travel and stay in the area, i will be fine until the interview. Anyone have similar experience?

    I live in Northern VA.

Assuming you have an unconditional green card - not the 2yr conditional green card for newly married spouses - you'll be just fine as long as your green card isn't lost or damaged/mutilated beyond recognition

USCIS policy on this matter has changed back and forth over the years. These days, they'll cut you slack here and there to encourage naturalization

Yes, it is a non conditional card.

I will take a risk but I know I can't make any travel plans until we get this sorted out.

Great news! I just got a letter for Interview Date (haven't gotten letter yet, but got notification that it is being sent to me). Looks like it will happen within a month! WHEW!
