We recently got US Citizenship. Our kid was born in India and as per the information we got from USCIS our kid will automatically naturalize US Citizen the day we become US Citizens. We have been suggested two options for next steps for him
1) We can directly apply US Passport for our Kid along with Passports
2) We can always apply N-600 as supplementary for kid by which he is going to get Naturalization Certificate on his Name (Costs$1170). Is is *NOT MANDATORY* to apply N-600 or needed to have a separate Naturalization Certificate. It is a personal preference

If you decide to apply N-600 for your Minor kid then Applying US Passport and Applying N-600 can happen in parallel or in sequence as per your preference
If you decide to apply US Passport for your minor kid be aware to take the following documents to near by USPS (US Postal Service) authorized office which accepts US Passport applications. If you choose to apply online then you still need the below documents
1) Parents Naturalization Certificate - In Original
2) Kids US Green Card - In Original
3) Parents Marriage Certificate - In Original
4) Kids previous nationality Original Passport - In Original
5) Other Documents/Photos as asked in Passport Application
When you submit all these documents "In Original" and once your kid(s) get their US Passport they will send all Originals back except US Green Card as it not valid anymore. If you are not in a position to send Originals (Except Green Card) you better send NOTARIZED copies
