  • White passport and counting the days left

Hi, my name is Parisa from Sweden. My parents are green card holder so Im asking a question on behalf of them. My mom won a lottery 2011 and entered to USA in 2012 (with my father of-course). During the three first six months they filled 5 months (they lived in USA for 5 months) and then they got a white passport in 2013 July until June 2015.
They entered to USA again in 2015 and they stayed for 2 months. After that they have had 1 year and two months gap which they were back home, my mom had some medical issues which she has paper for that. Now they are again in USA from Nov. 2016 to present.

My question: Does that first 5 months counts in that 5 years process towards getting citizenship or those 5 months are cleared out because they had a White passport?
My other question is Do they have to fill 2,5 years out of 4 years because they had a White passport?

Sorry for two much description and thank you for your time in advance,
    Sincerely,
    Parisa

Can you have a read here first?

      A. Continuous Residence RequirementAn applicant for naturalization under the general provision

This is about continuous residence in the USA. From what i had gathered, period leading to a long absence from the USA will not and should not be counted towards naturalization .

Immihelp, the re-entry permit was (maybe still is?) a booklet the shape and size of a passport, with a white cover. Some people might call it a white passport because it looks like a white passport, but it isn't a passport by definition

That is called Re Entry Permit, and not white passport.
